WELCOME
We hope we can answer any questions you may have before you and your family come to visit our church family.
Though our congregation is diverse, we are united by a common life-changing experience with Christ. You can experience the difference Christ makes too, regardless of your background or situation.

Our Preacher
Josh Romo
Josh has been preaching the Gospel since 2006 upon graduating from the Memphis School of Preaching. He and Ashley married in December, 2006. After working with congregations in Alabama for 3 years, Josh and Ashley moved to San Angelo, TX in 2009 and worked with the 9th & Main Church for 6 1/2 years. During their time there, Ashley graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, finishing her last semester while pregnant with their first son, Jensen Carter, born 10-5-13. Uriah Nathaniel was a pleasant surprise and was born 7-26-15. Josh, Ashley and the boys moved to Fordland to begin their work here in March, 2016. He is an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast; Ashley enjoys being a nurse, the outdoors, her boys and sewing; Jensen is a baseball and football fanatic; Uriah loves getting into anything he can get his hands on!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Just you and a willingness to worship the Lord! If you have a Bible, you will definitely use it when you visit with us. But, if you do not, we will have one that you are more than welcome to have as our gift to you.
You will see many of our members in “Dress Casual” or even some in suits and ties. But, you will also see some in jeans and a t-shirt. Whatever you feel comfortable in, wear that. All we ask is that you be modestly dressed so our worshipers can focus on what we are here to do.
If you are coming for Bible class or our Lord’s day worship, please enter at the double doors at the front of the building. There will be someone there to assist you.
Absolutely! The building is at ground level. There are no steps in the building. All restrooms are equipped to be handicap accessible. There are also several areas of the auditorium that have spaces to accommodate wheel chairs next to pews.
If you have special needs friends or family and want to visit with us but are worried, please don’t be. We will assist you if you need anything at all and we welcome you.
We love having children in our worship services, so we do not have Children’s Church. The worship hour is a perfect time for children to be influenced for Christ and see their parents taking part in worship.
We do have a private nursery (unstaffed) provided for those who need feeding or changing. This nursery is equipped with a sink, changing table, rocking chairs, and supplies. It also has a “one-way” window and a muted speaker for watching and listening to the classes and worship in the auditorium.
Whether you are a new-comer to the churches of Christ or a member of another congregation but would like information on becoming a member of the Church at Fordland specifically, there is a checkbox on our Guest Card. If you will be so kind as to mark that area, someone will be in touch with you about the information you need.
No, we do not. We believe in doing exactly what Jesus said, that we must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Because of that, we worship the same way the early Christians worshiped – without any instruments (Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16). That means that everyone sings and takes an active part in our worship services.
But please don’t be nervous; we have some amazing singers and some not so amazing singers. We are not worried about how you sound, but what your heart is singing to the Lord.
It is one of the five acts of our worship as observed by the church of the 1st century. The time spent remembering Jesus’ death on the cross is not only humbling, but it is also extremely important.
If you have never experienced the Lord’s Supper, it is a time when we gather to eat a small piece of bread (unleavened) that reminds us of Jesus’s body that was sacrificed on the cross and drink a small cup of grape juice (the fruit of the vine) which reminds us of the blood that saved us from our sins and purchased the church. If you do not feel comfortable partaking in this portion of worship, just simply pass it along to the next person.
Anyone who is visiting with us or who has not yet become a member of the congregation here at Fordland is never expected to give money either during the worship collection or otherwise.
One of the five acts of worship as observed by the church of the 1st century each Lord’s day was to give as one has been prospered (1 Corinthians 16:1). We also practice this act of worship.
